Rochdale Triathlon Club - Championship Rules
How it works
•The RTC Championship is an annual competition, running each calendar year.
•Prizes are awarded according to performances in 12 races selected by the committee.
•Points are awarded to each member who finishes each of these races, based on their finishing position compared to other RTC finishers.
•Each triathlete's best three points totals from the 12 selected races are added together to give an overall total score for the year – so everyone who runs more than three club races can discard their lowest point scores.
•Where available, ‘chip’ times rather than ‘gun’ times are used to determine the finishing order & points allocation.
•Maximum points awarded for any full distance triathlon
Leagues
In order to give as many members as possible the chance to compete for prizes, the Club Championship is divided into ability leagues.
On entering existing members are allocated to one of the Club Championship Leagues at the start of each year, based primarily on their performances at races in the previous year.
New members are allocated to the most appropriate Club Championship Group once they start competing in Club Championship races, based on their performances in their first few events.
To qualify for a prize a member must complete a minimum of three Club Championship races in the year.
Rochdale Triathlon Club - League Thresholds
New for 2025…
Leagues
The aim is for everyone to be competing against others of a similar standard. The current thresholds below are being used from the start of the 2024 season.
Existing members will, in most cases, be assigned to a league based on their best race performance(s) in the previous year.
However the RTC Committee reserves the right to apply discretion where someone is clearly performing at a level above where this would place them.
New members of the club, plus existing members who did not race in the previous year, will be assigned to an appropriate group after the first few races of the year, based on their performance(s) against these thresholds.
